Abstract   

The article is devoted to one of the current issues of Ukrainian literary studies, namely popular literature and its role in shaping contemporary popular culture. On the example of the work of two well­known Ukrainian authors: Łada Łuzina and Maryna Sokolian, an attempt was made to describe and analyse the motifs most often appearing in their work. These are folklore, demonological and Christian motives.

Author Biography   

Tatiana Hajder, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine

Doctor of Philology, historian of Slavic literature, associate professor at the Department of Polish Philology at the Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv (Ukraine). She obtained her doctorate in 2004, defending her doctoral dissertation on Polish artistic and literary cabaret. Area of ​​research interests: literature of postmodernism, mass (popular) literature. She is the author of numerous articles in journals and collective books in Ukraine and abroad, as well as the dissertation Polish artistic and literary cabaret: a national phenomenon of satirical discourse (2012). She also broadens her literary interests to include comparative issues.
