Abstract

The authoress tries to show Sienkiewicz as a person interested in a man and the environment at the aesthetic level. The writer in his correspondence left many traces of organizing his home space: he furnished apartments, brought out the equipment from the trip, which later served as the decoration of his houses. These issues became the subject of Sienkiewicz’s postal reports, allowing an analysis his tendencies, habits and aesthetic sensitivity.

Agnieszka Kuniczuk-Trzcinowicz, University of Warsaw, Faculty of Artes Liberales

Dr. Hab. (University of Warsaw 2017). Assistant professor at the University of Warsaw (Faculty of "Artes Liberales"), collaborates with the Institute of Literary Research. Participant of grants related to the literature and culture of the 19th century. Member of the editorial board of the yearly "Góry, Literatura, Kultura". Her research interests focus on the work of Henryk Sienkiewicz and other creators of the positivism period, especially in the field of manuscripts, traces of the non-literary legacy of the most outstanding writers of the second half of the 19th century and genetic criticism. She publishes in scientific journals in Poland and abroad. Author of the books: Czytane pod skrzyżowaniem. Analize Proces myśliowego Sienkiewicza na rękopisów nowol (2017), Sienkiewicza talent i intuicja. Studia i książki (Sienkiewicz's talent and intuition. Studies and sketches) (2014).
